BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Update:
Crews aided by weather and hard work have been able to contain 80% of the Hospital Fire and have begun aggressive mop up efforts working in from the containment line.
Original Story:
Fire crews battling the Hospital Fire in Orofino have stopped the forward momentum of the fire aided by recent rainfall.
Wednesday the crews will focus on tightening the dozer lines that now line the perimeter of the fire and will begin mop up operations.
The fire is estimated to be 50 acres, however, the Clearwater County Sheriff's Office says six homes and numerous outbuildings were lost in the fire. Residents in Wixson Heights are starting to be allowed back into the area and power has been restored but lines are still being repaired.
